Accounts for Minors – Under the Age of 16
If an adult ( parent/legal guardian) wishes to open an account for a juvenile, the adult themselves must provide the following at the time of opening the account for the juvenile:
1. Photographic Identification
2. Proof of Address

Please note we can no longer accept the Personal Services Card as proof of Identification or PPS Number.
WE MUST ALSO RECEIVE THE FOLLOWING FOR THE CHILD:
1. Birth Certificate (Mandatory)
2. Passport of the Child (If available)
3. Proof of PPS Number: Proof of the child’s Personal Public Service Number on official documentation (Mandatory).

4. Proof of Address: Proof of address for the child must be that of the parent(s)/guardian(s) and dated within the last 6 months of membership application – utility bill, government letter or bank statement.
5. If the juvenile is 7 and over they must be present at the time of opening the account (Mandatory).
All monies deposited in the minor’s account are the minor’s sole property. All withdrawals made from a minor’s account must be for the minor’s sole benefit and may only be carried out by the legal guardian of the juvenile (up to the age of 7). From the age of 7 onwards, the juvenile along with the parent/legal guardian should be present for all withdrawals.
A minimum share balance of €5 is required to open an account and to retain membership.

Current Accounts for Students
- Student Current Accounts are available to student members from the age of 12.
- You must be a member to apply for a Current Account.
- If you are 16 or 17 years of age, we require the consent of a parent/guardian to open a current account, and must be carried out in one of our branch offices.
- If you are 18 years and over and already a member you can open a Current Account Online.
- Students aged from 12 years of age are eligible for fee concession if pursuing a verified full-time course of study for one or more years.
- For overdrafts and loans, you must be 18 years or older to apply.
The following documents are required to open a Current Account
PHOTOGRAPHIC IDENTIFICATION
Current valid passport or Current valid driving licence
PROOF OF ADDRESS
- Original Recent Utility Bill*
- Original Recent Bank/Credit Card Statement*
- Original Correspondence from Government Department/Body
- If the student is still attending school and cannot yet provide any of the pieces mentioned, we will accept a letter (recent letter) from the school quoting the student’s address, including a photograph of the student stamped by the school.
Must be dated within the last 6 months.
PROOF OF PPS NUMBER

- Payslip
- Any revenue documentation
- Medical Card
- European Health Card
